Band Uniforms: Looking for a new Uniform chair person. Mr. Rogers is looking to purchase new uniforms next year. He would like them to be machine washable material for less maintenance and more practical wear. Will set-up a dry cleaning schedule and fees may begin to be included in the band fees.
Special notes: Andrew Kaminski is building new “closet space” across the front of the band room for the uniforms to be placed in. This is his Eagle Scout Project.
Eighth grade band recruitment: To start middle of February. Boosters plan to put together a Welcome Packet for parents to help them understand the rewards of being in High School Band. A special 8th grade parent meeting will be conducted at 6:30 pm, 1 hour prior to the next band boosters meeting at 7:30pm on March 6th. Addresses were requested to send parents a letter about this meeting. Mr. Rogers will get them for boosters club.
Special Notice of concern: Band concession facility may be going away. The building that the band currently uses for concessions is really owned by the Baseball dept. The Baseball dept. has installed a new Batting Cage in that area, leaving little or no room for patrons to enter from the stands on that side of the football field. It is uncertain if the band will be able to continue using this facility. If not, this could cost the band upwards of $7000.00 in revenue. Ideas and input are needed on how we might resolve this issue. More information will follow as it becomes available.
Chairpersons Reports:
Concessions: Kathy Westbrook still has several items for sale at cost. A profit of approx. $7000.00 was made during Marching season. Hats off ladies!!!
Hospitality: Marianne Reinert has made a “notebook” with all of the information needed to do this job. She is the parent of a Sr. and will not be available next year.
Banquet: Susie Cardin said the Band Banquet will be held at Rothschild’s this year on 5/4/2007. The theme is “Farragut Stars” Waiting for choice of menu’. There are plans to have a dance after banquet. Hope to shorten the event by 30 minutes. Great need for helpers, in the decorating area.
Nominating Committee: Needed for 2007-2008 year. Need to fill position of President as Sharon Nichols is a parent of a Sr. Contact Sharon Nichols.
Also, the band is looking for people in Uniforms, Concessions, Fruit Sales, Hospitality, Patron Fund, Band Camp, etc. Watch for e-mails regarding this area.
Next meeting date was set for Tuesday March 6th, 2007 @ 7:30pm.
All 8th grade parents are invited to stay and listen in after the 6:30pm Parent meeting.
President called motion to adjourn meeting at 7:50pm. Motion made by Sue Cash and seconded by Mike Murphy.
