Farragut High School Band Booster Minutes
February 12, 2008
Welcome and Call to Order by President Tina Heath @ 7: 05pm. Approximately 20 parents, board members and directors were present.
Secretary’s Report: Report withheld as it was not available. Copies will be available next month.
Treasurer’s Report: Dan Klarner gave report for the December 31st 2007 balances. The band has 2 CD’s that are about to mature. Regarding Fruit checks, there are a few bad checks that he is trying to get resolved with customers. Dan handed out reports.
OLD BUSINESS:
Concessions: All of the left over items have been sold. It was then mentioned that the Middle School Track Team had asked if we would be willing to do concessions for them. Some discussion was made and since we have already sold the leftovers, and the track meet is a one time event, it was decided not to do the concession.
Chaperones: There was nothing new to report here, Margaret said she was still working on Medical forms.
Patron Fund: Cameron Faircloth reported that Y-12 has approved $1000 to the uniforms fund. Mr. Faircloth will pursue the new Goodys/Ashley Judd Education grants that are handled by individual stores. He will also look into ORNL and will entertain any other suggestions of donations if anyone has some.
Fruit Sales: Sarah Davies was not available, but it was reported by Mary Stoner that almost all fees were paid. There is about $89.00 still outstanding. This is really great, in comparison to last year at this time there was about $2000.00. She estimated profit to be around $35,000.
Audio Recording Help: Mr. Hermann has asked that someone please step up to learn the system. He is a Senior parent this year and has no other students coming through the band. Farragut High School owns all of the equipment, we just need a couple of volunteers to learn how to use it. Mr. Hermann said that he will train people and will be available to help if additional help is needed next year. He has written manuals and has also put together a “quick reference” step by step guide to be used during recording.
Uniform Fundraisers: Only have a few more basketball games to go. Band boosters will now be in charge of opening and closing. Negotiations were made with the Premium Ice Cream owner to make a minimum of $200 per remaining games. Football season: The question was placed on the table about whether or not to continue when Football season opens again. A motion to accept was made by Susie Cardin, a second by Mr. Rogers. The “yeahs” won the decision. We will need to keep about 75 people per game as we will be selling in the stands as well as the 22 carts on the three floors. It was then briefly discussed to check into reserving a bus for each football game to take the volunteers down to the stadium and back. Julianne Spicht and Margaret Evans will look into that.
Other: None
NEW BUSINESS:
Officer Nominations: Jeff and Tina Budge will direct this. Mrs. Spicht volunteered to help with this committee.
Band Banquet: Date is set for May 2nd, 2008 at Rothchilds. Times are 6:30 – 11:00pm. The Large Ball Room in the main building has been reserved. It has the private entrance. Carol Bledsoe asks that all people who are volunteering stay at the end of the meeting to pass out jobs. The projected cost per person will be $15.00
The Commons has also been reserved for the Band Camp Dance and BBQ.
Freshman Parent 08-09 year: Mr. Rogers asked if we were going to repeat the Freshman Parent Meeting/Recruitment as it was done last year. There was some discussion about this and decided that yes it would be repeated. Need directors to get names of parents of FMS and WVMS.

Uniforms: We are at about 125 of the 200 uniforms that we need to purchase. Uniform colors and accessories are going to be as follows:
Black gloves, Recover hats to match uniforms, Black Plums, Black Shoes. Uniform a new mix of the Blue and Grey. Mr. Rogers is going to try and get a sample of the uniform made so it can be seen in its entirety. A photo design of the uniform hangs in the Band hall now for your viewing. Will be looking to place order in April for this falls wear.
March 14 and 15 ETSBOA will be hosted at FHS for ratings. Everyone has an invitation to come and see some great performances for free. Would love to see parents there.
Ready to Travel??? How about going to London next December? Leave Dec. 26th and return on Jan. 3rd 2009. Mr. Rogers is getting ready to put in the order to go with Knox County Schools.
