Minutes from the Farragut Band Boosters Meetings


FHS Band Booster Meeting


February 7, 2006

Welcome & Call to Order by President D. Bates @ 7:05PM (22 attendees)

Secretary’s Report- M. Turner-S. Carden motioned to accept as written, L. Johnson seconded the motion, approved by booster body.

Treasurers Report- J. Johnson-Currently fund raising is low, expect about $4K-$5K at year-end. Detailed hand out provided. P. Shaw motioned to accept treasurers’ report, M. Murphy seconded the motion. Booster Body approved. L Pickens questioned the location of the $125 check she paid during band camp, which has not been cashed.

Patron Fund- L. Bates- Activities completed for this year, still no check from Kimberly Clark. Mr. Rogers suggested putting patrons names in spring concert program.

Chaperone- M. Evans- Medical forms in progress, requested the concert band rooster.

Uniforms- L. Woods-Marching uniforms are being collected.

Newsletter- L. Pickens- Suggested that CVS donation of drugs be recognized. Information was requested for input into newsletter. Expect distribution next week.

Web site- S. Taylor-Not updated due to directors commitments. Sill update ASAP.

Golf Tournament- D. Bates- Response currently not good, too late to get done. Directors and Booster President agree that it should be postponed. Mrs. _____ informed the group that she has gotten commitment for about $1700 for door prizes. D. Bates not aware of this, suggested prizes be returned to giver until we are ready for the golf tournament.
L. Pickens stated that Goody’s CEO in interested in being a sponsor.
Mr. Rogers stated that Farragut is a good place for a successful golf tournament.
J. Johnson suggested that the tournament be moved to the summer, shortly after band camp.
Mr. Rogers recommended that T. Earith be contacted as the coordinator,
L. Johnson motioned to reschedule golf tournament at a later date, J. Johnson seconded the motion. Booster body agreed.

Band Banquet: J and L Johnson have contacted Faith Lutheran about the use of their fellowship hall on Friday May 12. They recommend the Entertainers as the band.
P. Shaw and D. Bates will coordinate decorations.
S. Carden will coordinate program and awards. Sr awards will be plaques with seniors’ names on it.
L. Stoner and /or D. Thrash were recommended for power point presentation preparation.
L Johnson will handle tickets.
Committee should meet within the next few weeks.

New fund Raiser(s): Tabled until a later date per Mr. Rogers’ request.

Nominating Committee: D. Bates informed the group that there is an urgent need here since we need to announce new officers at the spring concert.

Directors Comments- Mr. Rogers- 27 FHS band members participated in Sr. Clinic. 26 attended at a trip cost of ~$115 (to booster). Each participant paid $45.00.
6 FHS students will play in All State band (March 29-Aptil 1, 2006).
23 FHS students in Knox County Honors band next Friday at Central HS (2/16-2/17/06).
No concert band camp this year because some teachers did not like students being out of class for a day last year. Concert camp needed because concert band is where learning takes place.
March 14 and April 25, 2006 at 7:00PM –spring bands concerts.
March 15-16 FHS will host Middle State Festival.
April 28, 2006 both bands will perform at Austin Pea University (Concert band performs at 3:00 PM and Symphonic band performs at 5:00PM). There will be no judging /rating) of performances, just professional criticism). This will be an overnight trip, will leave Friday morning, spend the night in Nashville, and return on Saturday (April 29, 2006). Cost per student no more than $45.
Graduation is May 20, 2006 at Thompson Boling Arena, dress clothing, and students may provide personal transportation.
Marching Band Camp-July 17 thru July 28, 2006.
Next years’ show is being finalized.

Misc.– Questions about the remainder of NY trip balance. Mr. Taylor did not know for sure, is suppose to check on and get info out. Questions about hotel room assignment for adults. The choir director is coordinating this trip.

Next Booster meeting is March 7, 2006 at 7:00PM in the band room.

S. King motioned the meeting be adjourned at 7:55 PM P. Shaw seconded the motion.
