Farragut High School Band Booster Minutes
March 11, 2008
Welcome and Call to Order by President Tina Heath @ 6:37pm. Estimated 80-100 parents and Board Members present as meeting was held just before 1st Spring Concert.
Secretary’s Report: Copies of last 3 meetings minutes were handed out for review and approval. An amendment was made to the February minutes as William Cardin was accidentally omitted from the list of students who made All-State. Susie Cardin made motion to accept and Tina Budge second’ the motion.
Treasurer’s Report: Dan Klarner was out of town and Tina reported that there were really no changes to the last report except that there is an additional deposit of $1650 of earned income from the last of the UT games that had been deposited towards new Uniforms.
OLD BUSINESS:
Patron Fund: Carol filled in for Cameron Faircloth. We had just missed the Goodys Donation fund for this round. The next donations will not be given until next fall. Linda Pickens agreed to keep watch over this deadline and keep board informed.
Fruit Sales: Tina Heath reported a profit of $35,000.
Audio Recording Help: The band is still looking for a volunteer to learn the system and take it over for them. For the past 15 years the Farragut High School band has had recordings of the concerts and marching season. Please do not let this go by the wayside. This is a real Farragut Band Tradition. Mr. Hermann is willing to train and has written manuals that go with the equipment. He says that the operations are so simple that manuals are not needed but he has written them anyway.
Uniform Fundraisers: Kim Wittenberg reported an additional $1650 in February bringing the new total earned to about $38,000.00. A “mock-up” of the uniform was made available for all students and parents to see. It was sitting on a table outside the Auditorium doors to be admired as people passed by. Each uniform will cost $290.00. 180 uniforms at $290 each adds up to about $58,000. We are about $20,000 short. To have the uniforms by fall 2008 we need to place the order in April. Board will hold a special meeting to discuss this after Spring Break.
It was discussed last meeting about possibly reserving a school buss to take parents and students back and forth to work the UT games. Then it was asked if parents wanted to work the UT Football games one more season to pay for the uniforms. It will take approximately 70-75 students and parents to work each game and the bus would probably cost somewhere around $200 depending on the price of gasoline.
A parent brought forth discussion about the need for a “checks and balance” of who is and isn’t helping. There was some discussion on this and the matter was tabled as the board will try to address the concern.
Band Banquet: The Banquet will be held on May 2nd @ 6:30 pm. The location will be Rothchild’s @ $15 per person. There will be a band dance afterwards.
Senior Plaques: Linda Pickens will collect signatures and check into pricing once again from “The Third Dimension” and a new supplier called “Mercury Engraving” Prices will be presented to the board.
Other: None
