FHS Band Boosters Meeting – April 4, 2006

FHS Band Booster Meeting April 4, 2006 Call to order by President D. Bates at 7:03PM (18 attendees) Directors” Remarks by Mr. Rodgers: Symphonic band will go to Johnson City, TN on Friday 3/7/06 to perform in festival. They will leave classes around noon. Performance is at 6:00 PM. They will eat dinner in Johnson City and return to FHS around 10:00PM.

-Symphonic and Concert bands will perform at APSU in Clarksville, TN on 4.28/06 at 4:00 and 2:30 respectively. Bands will spend Thursday night in Nashville. Departure time is 4:30 PM. Expected return time is midnight on 4/28/06.
-Parents were encouraged to attend both the Clarksville and Johnson City performances.

-Band directors are currently looking for a new color guard instructor for next year. Guard practice and drum major try-out will be in early May.

-FHS band director’s plan to write drills for next year (Cost savings for band).

-NY trip, good but complaints regarding free time. Groups were off schedule and staff was not very patient with group. Behaviors of band students were different from other music students. Next year’s trip will most likely include band alone.

Meeting minutes: M. Turner- Paper copies were distributed at beginning of the meeting. Minutes were posted on the web site a few days ago. Corrections were made to misspelled names. S. Carden motioned that the minutes be approved with the deletion of the reference regarding e-mail distribution. P Shaw seconded the motion. Motion was carried by vote from the floor.

Treasury Report: J. Johnson-Adjunct staff has been paid. Checking account has about $1579. L. Johnson motioned to accept the treasury report and P. Shaw seconded the motion. Motion was carried by vote from the floor.

Chaperones: M. Evans-Chaperones are in place of upcoming trips to Johnson City and Clarksville.

Uniforms: - L. Woods-Two new students last two weeks were fitted for uniforms.

Golf tournament: -L Johnson-Tentative date is Friday a week after band camp.

Band Banquet: J. Johnson-Meeting with caterer Friday to finalize plans. Need set up for tables and chairs. Will find out if we have to pay for clean up. Table clothes will be placed on tables and everything will be taken away by caterers. Will get table set-up time so we will have time for decorations (will inform P. Shaw). Dinner will include a variety of foods. Party boys have been reserved for dance. Pictures should be sent to D. Thrash by e-mail or placed in the blue tub ASAP, so she can prepare the banquet video. Make sure all seniors sign plaque, especially marching band only seniors) Door prizes will not be given this year. Ticket deadline is May 4, 2006. Banquet is May 12, 2006 at Faith Lutheran church.

Miscellaneous: D. Bates-Project grad requested donations from band boosters. Boosters decided not to contribute since we never have before.

-Officers and chair persons still needed for next year. M. Gubanc will not head concessions. Officers will be introduced and voted in at the April 25, 2006 concert.

-April 25 concert conflicts the middle school concert.
