Minutes from the Farragut Band Boosters Meetings April, 2007
Meeting Minutes
• Meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM by S. Nichols, President (14 attendees).
• S. Nichols reported on the condition of L. Pickens husband.
• S. Nichols distributed a description of booster committees and chairperson responsibilities along with a list of current volunteers for 2007-2008. She encouraged others to step up and fill vacancies, or nominate someone for the open positions. Still in need of Vice President and Chairpersons for Band Dance, Banquet, Fruit Sale, Publicity, Summer Insanity, and Uniforms. New officers will be announced at the April concert. Ann and Andy Ezell volunteered as concessions Chairpersons for 2007-2008.
• S, Nichols called for a motion to accept the secretary minutes for March 2007 meeting as printed on the band web site. S. Carden motioned to accept the minutes and S. Taylor 2nd the motion.
• S. Taylor gave the directors remarks:
-April 24, 2007-pre-performance concert. Both band will leave for Nashville after school on April 26, spend the night there and travel to Austin Peay for performance on the afternoon of April 27. Bands will return to FHS Friday night after the performance.
-Mr. Rogers has been contacted by Stanley Barnes regarding a potential band trip to Rome during the Christmas holidays. Must get approval from Knox County school officials. Historically, band foreign travel was about seven days (12/27 to 1/3). Estimated cost is ~$2600 per person, which includes 2 meals per day, field trips, travel, and lodging. Family members are welcome. Need at least 100 people for price control. An e-mail will be sent out for interest soon.
-Baccalaureate services will be at First Baptist Concord Church on May 14 a small ensemble will be chosen to play there by Mr. Rogers.
-Graduation will be May 19 at 7:00 PM at the Knoxville Convention Center and all band members except seniors are required to perform. Students may arrange their own transportation or ride the busses from FHS (will use 1 or 2 busses).
-Football schedule will be pushed back a week.
-Fall break will be Oct 22-26, 2007.
• Discussion on concessions: There is a path leading to visitors stands. Expect concessions to be down this fall because FHS will not host larger school for home games. A. Ezell asked why we could not sale on home side? Mr. Taylor stated that the home side concessions are sold strictly by the athletics department.
• D. Bates stated that the band banquet registration will be May 4 at Rothchilds. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $15 per person and children under 5 will be admitted free. The dance will be for both students and parents. Additional discussions were centered on requesting that students go thru line only once to insure that everyone get food.
• No additional committee reports were made.
• There will be no May booster meeting.
• At 7:35 Booster President called for a motion to adjourn meeting. C. Schroeder motioned to adjourn and M. Turner 2nd the motion.
