Minutes from the Farragut Band Booster Meeting on June 10, 2009
Meeting was called to order by Jeff Budge, President at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Secretary Report:
- Jeff Budge read minutes from April and May, board approved/accepted the minutes.
- TO DO: Jeff Budge to type up minutes from April and May and submit them for website posting.
Treasurer Report:
· FY 2008-2009 we ended with $3000 - $3500 ending balance. reports submitted to Mr Reynolds as required.
· TO DO: Joe Tomczak to send a copy of the report to Jeff Budge as submitted to Mr Reynolds
· Joe Tomczak distributed the 2009/2010 budget draft.
· For 2008/2009 we are currently in good shape with outstanding expenses of $350 for DVD’s. Several other bills to be paid.
· The uniform loan has been paid off.
· J. Tomczak asked for feedback for the 2009/2010 budget draft and wants to finalize budget for the next meeting.
· Mr. Rogers asked how much we made last month for the UT Orange and White game which will be a good indicator for upcoming fall season. Discussion of adding funnel cakes or nacho’s during the cold fall games, decision to be made by Nick of Premium Vending. We have an extra home football game this summer.
· Fruit sale is to support operations and not a money maker.
· J. Tomczak’s employer, Kimberly-Clark Corp. is hoping to donate $1000 to the Patron Fund this upcoming year.
· Operations Account: Mr. Roger’s said he paid everything out of the school account and there is $13 left.
· Operations Account: Mr. Roger’s will give password to sign into JW Pepper and check our balance and invoices as there appears to be a discrepancy
· We have a $9955 ending balance forecasted for this year. What do we want to do with this? Mr. Rogers stated that Knox County wants to see operations money all paid and not held over. Would the boosters consider splitting the adjunct staff fees with the Operations Budget? One pay the color guard and one pay the percussion. The adjunct staff fee is $1700. Decide at the next meeting.
· Discussion to work only UT football concessions, NOT basketball concessions.
· TO DO: Jeff Budge to discuss with Kim Wintenberg to see whether Nick would agree to that arrangement, also could hand basketball over to another FHS booster org

Discussion of changing the term “student fees” in the band
packet related to fundraising.
TO DO: J. Tomczak will call Mr. Underwood and Mike Haynes and discuss the
term “fee” and clarify the language we can use.
· TO DO: Tina Budge agreed to call Kathy Browning to discuss how football fees are done.
· TO DO: Jeff Budge will contact Greg Harper, former president of the football boosters regarding how their fees are recorded.
· SSO application still not approved, Joe Tomczak will continue to follow up on the 2 outstanding items from our application to get them cleared (student fees, dissolution of assets).
Band Packets:
Mr. Roger’s said band packets will be ready next week. Draft will be sent to the Budges to proof. Mr. Roger’s recommended sending a separate mailer from main packet with band fees information. Additional postage will cost $80 but may give $1000 extra income on fees that are typically hard to collect.
Band Uniforms:
Beth Colwell reported that most uniforms are in and most are cleaned. Beth is going to get an estimate from Concord Cleaners for them to come and pick-up, inventory, and clean the uniforms for the upcoming year. We will then add this cost to the student fees. Beth is also getting an estimate from Lippos for 200 blue nylon mesh uniform bags that are longer lasting and let the uniforms breathe.
Nominating Committee:
Tina Budge reported that we have an opening for someone to chair the Patron Fund and the website. Tina will ask Megan Kidder’s mom if she would consider the website position. We need someone for the Senior Night Coordinator.
New Business:
Cindy Holt will coordinate first aid for band camp. T-shirts this year will be España
Director’s Remarks:
Mr. Roger’s reported that he has been in Drill Writing Class for the past 3 days at UT Chattanooga. Music for the fall show will be Spanish/Latin Jazz. First song (Malagueña) is already done. Summer sectionals are as follows:
Color Guard – start June 11 from 5p to 8p
Band Sectionals – start June 18 and are each Thursday from 6p to 8p up until band camp starts
July 4th Parade – practice on July 2 and 3 from 10am to 12 p.m.
