Minutes from the Farragut Band Boosters Meetings July 17, 2007
Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order at 7:11pm by Tina Heath (President). 58 persons present, Band Directors on the field with students.
Board Members were introduced. (Complete list of positions and members can be found along with other valuable information
on the website: www.farragutbands.org.
Secretary’s report was mentioned as being on the website. Motion to accept made by Carol Schroeder and Second by Tina Budge.
Budget report was given by Dan Klarner. He went through many items line by line. Discussion was made about transferring funds
from boosters to operations to pay for Adjunct Staff. Other funds were transferred to Savings account. The new budget for 07-08
was to include a line item for Uniform Funds. We will be looking into various fundraisers to fund new uniforms. Motion to accept
was made by Cameron Faircloth and second by Brian Phillips.
Band Camp: Karen Donovan (also out on the field with students). A report to be given next booster meeting.
Band Dance: Carol Schroeder reported Pizza, Live DJ and Karaoke on tap for the kids.
Band BBQ: Carol Schroeder reported that the commons will not be available. Destination unknown at this time, time is from 5-7pm
with Kids presenting program at the end of the BBQ.
Football: Ann Ezell reported that we will be using the Baseball concession stands again this year. Needs volunteers as most of the
1st games are all at home. Football Fanfare (usually held at UT) will be held at 2 Knox county High Schools, with Farragut being one of the.
August 17th will need concession stand workers.
Freshman Parents meeting: Susie Cardin headed up, but was not available to report. There were many parents there. She also has T-Shirts
still available for purchase. she will e-mail the list of chaperones, and Itineraries.
Fruit Sale: Mary Stoner reported that we will be doing it again this year and NEEDS someone to step up and shadow and to take charge of this next year.
Chaperones: Margaret Evans reported that she will use e-mail to send information and to keep the chaperone list updated. She made mention
that she needs chaperones for the following:
5 football games, use 6 school busses
3 competitions, use 4 Charter busses, and
2 parades in which 6 school busses are used.
No new parents will chaperone alone. You will have an experienced chaperone on your buss with you. There is no prior experience needed,
just show up and shell make sure you get the rest.
Pit Crew: Ken Abbott reported on what it takes to be a part of the Pit Crew.
You help load (kids do most of the loading) and transport equipment, set-up on the field, tear down, re-load (again, the kids do most of if)
and put away upon return. You also help repair equipment as needed and most of all you get FREE water, FREE rides, and FREE T-Shirts
along with FREE fun. You also get the opportunity to compete and win as you can see on the website, that Farragut has an award winning Pit Crew.
At least 20 people are needed to assist.
Uniforms: Sheryl Rice reports that next week she will be sizing the kids and handing out the uniforms. She needs a Co-Chair.
Football Tickets: Tina Budge reports that the ticket prices have gone up from $20 to $24. The prices are set by the central office downtown.
You still get 5 games for the price of 4 and can beat the lines to get in if you have your season pass. Please place your orders in the blue
tub in Mr. Rogers’s office or send a SASE to Tina. She needs volunteers to help at the BBQ and with the distribution of the Season Passes.
She will be at the band hall before the 1st home game until time for the band to perform in the garden approximately 6:15pm.
Video Year Book: Jeff Budge reports that he is still making them if anyone wants to order. Order form on Website.

NEW BUSINESS:
BY LAW CHANGE: Board met 7-10-07 and discussed bylaws. Some of the positions have not been filled for a few years now and it was
decided that maybe those positions were not needed any longer. Class representatives and Newsletter were the two positions that have not been needed.
The motion to accept this by law change was made by Carol Schroeder and a second by Cheryl Rice. There was no opposition. The by law change will go
in effect immediately.
Uniform Fundraiser: Current Uniforms made in 1992. Estimated cost of new ones is around $45-50,000. Mr. Rogers will look into the actual costs
and talk to other band directors about their fundraisers to see what they are doing to raise monies for new uniforms. We need committee chairs to
assist in investigating fundraisers.
Directors Notes:
Mr. Rogers addressed freshman parents before the Boosters meeting. Mr. Rogers answered the question are we non-profit? The answer is yes, we
are 501C.

Next meeting August 14th @ 7pm will be for Board members and Committee Chairs. Next Band Booster meeting will be September 11th (2nd Tuesday)
