FHS Band Boosters Meeting Notes
October 8, 2007

Officer Reports
Secretary’s report for the September meeting will be read at our next meeting.
Treasurer Report:Carol Schroeder passed the report for the FHS Band Support Account as of 9/30/2007. Reports are available from Carol Schroder.
Old Business
Concessions: Everything is set and ready for the October 19th ballgame.
Chaperones: Margaret Murray-Evans reported that chaperone spaces are still available for the Bradley Central game on October 12, 2007.
Hospitality: No Report. Box lunches prepared by Joy McCabe and volunteers were enjoyed by all on the Myrtle Beach trip. In addition, Joy prepared her wonderful Taco Salad for the adults.
Patron Fund: Cameron Faircloth reported that $1940 has been received for the Patron Fund. He has sent thank you notes to donors and requested logos to be posted on the Farragut Band Booster site to link to their businesses.
Publicity: Cameron Faircloth has submitted pictures from the Myrtle Beach Competition to the Farragut Press Enterprise. These pictures were taken by Mary Stoner. Anyone with ideas or band pictures for publicity should forward them directly to Cameron Faircloth.
T-Shirts: Susie Carden reported that a few t-shirts were still available for purchase.
New Uniform Fundraisers:
UT Concessions: Tina Heath reported that the Boosters made $2800 in profit and $1100 in donations (total - $3900) from concessions sales at the October 6 game. A total of $9640 has been made in profit and donations to date from all 3 games. 100 different volunteers (students and parents) have worked thus far.
Volunteers are needed for the 4 remaining games. Please contact Tina Heath if you would like to volunteer.
There is a possibility of working concessions for the Lady Vols basketball season with the same vendor.
Senior Night: Tina Heath reported that 2 photographers are needed for Senior Night (October 19, 2007). Contact Tina Heath for more information. There are 33 seniors in the FHS Band.
Recording Help: Harry Hermann reported that the band had acquired its own recording equipment. (The equipment is mounted in a box on coasters.) Volunteers are needed to learn how to operate the equipment to record the concerts. Mr. Hermann will be glad to teach people how to operate the equipment.
He is also in the process of preparing an instructional booklet.
New Business
Fruit Sale: Mary Stoner and Sarah Davy reported that packets will go out with students next week.
11/3 Blitz Day – Parent drivers are needed to drive teams of 3-4 students.
11/16 Band Orders are Due
12/7 Fruit is delivered to Farragut Intermediate School. – This year adults will be needed to unload the fruit. The FHS Band will be marching in the Holiday Parade.
12/8 Students should come early to FIS to put together the mixed boxes of fruit. Fruit orders are delivered to the customer on this date.
Prices are the same as last year. We will be selling ruby red grapefruit, tangelos, navel oranges, and juice oranges.

Director’s Remarks
10/12 FHS Band travels to Bradley High School. The itinerary will be posted on the website.
10/13 FHS Band goes to Tusculum College (Greenville, Tennessee) for a competition. The ternary will be posted on the website.
10/15 Knox County Band Exhibition at Bearden High School.
10/19 Senior Night
10/26 The FHS Band will be playing from the stands at the football game. They will not march or wear band uniforms.
11/9 Veterans Day Parade
Mr. Rogers expressed his thanks to all who helped with the Myrtle Beach trip. The students stopped and practiced their program at a high school in Columbia, South Carolina. There is a possibility that the band from this high school may be visiting in the spring.
Mr. Rogers has talked with representatives about new band uniforms. He passed around a sketch of a uniform. The new uniform will include jacket, pants, plume, and hats.
Sign ups for Junior and Senior Clinic will be in the next couple of weeks. Mr. Mactavish has been working with a Jazz Band. Some students will audition for the jazz band.
Mr. Reynolds has requested volunteers to work the Phone-a-Thon for the FHS Educational Foundation. The dates are October 29 and 30 from 6-8:30 p.m. & 8-10:00 p.m. Monies raised will go to the Fine Arts Department at FHS.
