FHS Band Boosters Meeting Notes


November 13, 2007


Tina Heath, Booster President, called the meeting to order st 7:00PM

Officer Reports

Secretary’s report for the September and October meetings will be read at our next meeting.

Treasurer Report: Dan Klarner gave the report for the FHS Band Support Account as of 10/31/2007. Reports are available from Dan Klarner.

Old Business

Concessions: Volunteers are needed for the November 16, 2007 football playoff game (Farragut vs. Kingsport, Dobbins-Bennett). Contact Ann or Andy Ezell if interested.

Chaperones:Margaret Murray-Evans that the band traveling to another football game is dependent on the outcome of the playoffs.

Patron Fund: Cameron Faircloth reported that $1600 had been received for the Patron Fund. Aubreys has donated 10 “Dinner for 2” coupons and 15 desert coupons. Best Buy has donated a $25 gift card. These will be used for awards for fruit sales.

Fruit Sale: Sarah Davy reported the following:

11/16 Band Orders are Due

12/7 Fruit is delivered to Farragut Intermediate School

Mrs. Royse will be chairing the Fruit Sale Committee next year. A co-chair volunteer is needed to help.

Audio Recording Help: The band has acquired its own recording equipment. (The equipment is mounted in a box on coasters.) Volunteers are needed to learn how to operate the equipment to record the concerts. Harry Hermann will be glad to teach people how to operate the equipment. He is also in the process of preparing an instructional booklet. If you are interested, please contact Harry Hermann for more information.

Uniform Fundraisers: Tina Heath reported that $12,018 (as of November 3, 2007) has been made selling concessions at the football games. At this point, enough money has been made to purchase 98 uniforms. (Our goal is 200). Volunteers are needed for the remaining football games. Please contact Tina Heath if you would like to volunteer.

The Boosters and students will also be selling concessions at the Hannah Montana concert. There is a possibility that the Boosters may have the opportunity to sell concessions at the Keith Urban concert.

Kim Wintenberg will be chairing the Booster Concession Committee for the basketball games (Lady Vols and Men Vols) at UT. Contact Kim if you are interested in volunteering.

New Business

Uniform Donations Recognition - The Board passed a motion to have “In Honor of “ tags made for persons interested in purchasing a uniform for the band. (Motion made by Carol Schrader and seconded by Tina Budge.)

Tina Heath recognized Cookies by Design for making cookies for the senior band members at Senior Night. The cookies were designed to look like a FHS band member in full uniform.

Director’s Remarks

Mr. Rogers reported that 5 students tried out for the Jazz Clinic. Mr. MacTavish has been helping before school with Jazz Band students.

11/17/07 – Junior Band Clinic will be held at Maryville Intermediate School

11/30/07 – Deadline date for students to sign up for Senior Clinic.

1/12/08 – Senior Clinic Auditions will be held at South Doyle High School.

Mr. Rogers expressed his thanks and gratitude for the help and support for the FHS Band.

The next meeting is scheduled for January 8, 2008.
